GREENOCK Town Hall is ready to rumble - as top British wrestlers get set to return to the ring there for the first time in almost two years.

The big event, organised by Premier British Wrestling, will take place on April 1 and features Greenock's 'Lucha DS'.

After being unable to perform for much of the last two years, the local favourite is looking forward to his first home town wrestling show since the pandemic began.

Lucha told the Tele: "It's been so long since we were last here, so we're looking to make a huge comeback.

"We've got guys coming up from England and we're going to make a real show of it.

"Before lockdown we were doing shows most weekend and we're slowly getting back to that and it's really exciting."

Lucha is now in his eighth year as a professional wrestler and has performed at events across Europe.

Billed as a 'high-flying, death-defying sensation', Lucha's acrobatic exploits have wowed crowds across the country.

The masked fighter has only been able to wrestle sporadically over the last 18 months, with occasional events such as recording for WWE Network in Glasgow tiding him over.

Now that wrestling is back in full swing, the fighter says he's ready to give Greenock the best show possible.

He added: "Wrestling ground to a halt for the last two years.

"The guidelines and restrictions changed a lot of how we worked over that period, so it didn't really feel like wrestling.

"But we're back to bums on seats now and that's the best part of this.

"We want Greenock Town Hall to be full.

"We want to see kids coming along to cheer the goodies and boo the baddies.

"It's going to be a great show."
