FIRMS are lining up to support local gladiators taking on a giant Greenock obstacle course.

Inverclyde Leisure has announced their big three sponsors for the Inverclyde Warrior event - Arnold Clark, PG Paper and Blairs Windows.

The 5k event at Battery Park on June 10 and 11 summer will raise money for local good causes through the Inverclyde Community Fund.

Arnold Clark general manager Paul McCafferty said: “We’re passionate about giving back to our local communities.

"That’s why we’re delighted to support the Inverclyde Warrior event.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity for participants to meet people from the local community and challenge themselves while trying something new."

Arnold Clark will be putting a team in to the event, along with PG Paper and Blairs.

During the course of the two day challenge secondary school pupils will take part as well as local teams.

Sponsors are helping with additional running costs as well as providing t-shirts, entertainment, safety support and goodie bags.

Blairs Windows operations manager Joe Boyd said: “It is great to see the chosen charity for this event is Inverclyde Community Fund - further supporting our ethos of giving back to the local community and helping the area to become an even better place.”

Inverclyde Warrior event is part of the council's Meliora summer festival, aimed at helping the area recover from the pandemic.

Puneet Gupta, chief executive at PG Paper, said: “After the difficult times over the past two years when events like this have been unable to take place, we are delighted to be supporting Inverclyde Warrior.

"Our involvement has reminded us just how important both our physical and mental wellbeing is, and I'm looking forward to taking part with my team."

The obstacle course will feature flying monkey bars, ninja walls, balance boards, walking beams, crawl and cargo nets, climbing frames and the iconic travelator seen in TV show Gladiators.
