INVERCLYDE'S largest housing association has received grants totalling £14,900 to help struggling tenants.

River Clyde Homes picked up £8,900 from the Cash for Kids Winter Support Fund to help low income families with basic essentials such as food, fuel and warm clothing.

The social landlord has also been awarded £6,000 from the STV Appeal Scottish Government Winter Support Fund to top up the funds available to support families in need.

Elaine Cannon, senior housing manager, said: "This is great news for the local community and the total funding of £14,900 means 240 children of low-income families will receive a voucher up the value of £70 to purchase basic essentials.”
