IT was green for go as Fort Matilda Bowling Club's members and friends officially opened the season.
President Kenny McKie's niece, Emma Campbell, delivered the first bowl as the club enjoyed its first official opening ceremony since the pandemic began.
Representatives from kindred clubs joined members and their families for the first wapenshaw of the season, which was followed by an afternoon tea in the clubhouse.
Club secretary Norrie Mungin told the Tele that Fort Matilda's members were delighted to kick off another year of bowling - and relishing the chance to play competitively once again.
Norrie said: "We'll be entering all the external competitions - Scottish, Greenock & District and Renfrewshire - which is something we haven't been able to during the pandemic.
"Our membership numbers have been steadily increasing, especially our lady members, and we hope to see that continue throughout this season.
"During the closed season we ran social evenings once a month and now that we're open we'll be looking to play friendly wapenshaws with other local clubs.
"We'll also be having our barbecue and bowls night mid-season, which is always a good event for our members.
"We hope that the worst of the pandemic is now behind us and that we can kick on and have a great season."
