A MARTIAL arts stuntman from Greenock has been helping Hollywood megastar Tom Hardy with his action shots.

Craig Miller, 39, who hails from Branchton, has been working with the actor who has starred in box office blockbusters like Dunkirk, Venom and Legend, playing both Kray twins.

He was taken on to teach Tom for the Netflix film Havoc, which was shot in the Welsh capital Cardiff over four months.

Craig said: "I was hired to teach Tom and double for action shots, but with such a massive workload I then was brought on to stunt double Tom.

"Tom works incredibly hard and we trained almost everyday, even during his lunch breaks we would hit the gym to get a workout.

"He’s super intelligent, breaks down every aspect of the action and character, and it is incredible to see him work.

"We often trained at weekends in the garage gym at his house, which was a rather surreal experience, but it was lots of fun."

Craig has done 20 years of training in martial arts, which took him across to Asia to work with the very best in the world from Thailand’s top Muay Thai fighters to the monks of the Shaolin monastery.

He said: "I went to Hong Kong where I came across a stunt school called the Hithut.

"I trained, qualified and worked there with an amazing team and took those skills and others from learning in martial arts in Greenock into jobs all over the world."

Craig first ventured out to Hong Kong when he was only 19 and was back and forth for work and family commitments.

He said: "My love of people and travel allowed me to network in Hong Kong where I met contacts from all over the world, so I travelled working on some huge projects.

"I’ve worked in top American, British, Bollywood and local Hong Kong movies.

"I’ve also been in movies with a worldwide release such as Dracula Untold, and worked with Colin Firth in Kingsman: The Secret Service."

But Craig says working with Tom is perhaps his best job yet.

He said: "Working with Tom and the team was a massive highlight.

"He is very funny and such a sweet approachable person and super handsome and talented too.

"Some actors can be a diva of course, but I found him so easy to work with."

Craig is married to wife Tiffany, from Hong Kong, and they have a baby daughter, Poppy.

He owns a pole dance studio and loves living in Hong Kong but admits it has changed in the last couple of years since China took over.

Craig said: "Hong Kong has changed drastically, it's not the same place it used to be for sure but I still love it there."

The highly motivated stunt professional is always in high demand and is currently working on another Netflix movie in Belfast as a fight trainer for American comedian and actor Kevin Hart.

Craig said: "I've been stunt doubling two actors for this one, so it's been flat out and intense but I'm loving it.

"Tom is a massive Kevin Hart fan and they have sent each other videos through me.

"I’m the middle man for these two legends, it’s very bizarre but such a honour."
