NEW award-winning first aid classes that could save babies lives’ have been launched in Inverclyde.

First Aid trainer and mum of two Vicky Moon, 38, will be teaching parents, grandparents, carers, or anyone interested in learning about early-years first aid on what to do when emergency strikes.

The first session was held in Kilmacolm and proved a big success.

The two-hour classes cover CPR, choking, burns, blades and cuts, seizures, meningitis awareness and more.

They will be taking place regularly in Greenock, Inverkip and Kilmacolm.

Classes are part of the award-winning Mini First Aid franchise, which previously attracted funding from the BBC’s Dragon’s Den.

Trainer Vicky says she chose to launch the new classes in Kilmacolm because of the ‘community feeling’ in the village.

She said: “I have been overwhelmed with how warm and welcoming everyone has been.

"Launching a new business in an area is always daunting and I am happy to see how it has been received so far.

“A lot of expectant parents come along and some have been with their babies.

“Many just want that peace of mind that they will be able to help if something were ever to happen.

“A lot of other people that come along say they have done first aid for adults but have never done anything related to first aid for children and want to improve their skills.”

Mini First Aid will also be delivering classes for children from the age of three, for the youngsters to learn about things such as calling 999 and 'safe eating' practices.
