A MAN has been charged with leaving another male scarred for life in an alleged serious assault said to have involved the use of a pole as a weapon.

Shaun Irvine, 30, is accused of repeatedly striking and kicking the man on Grieve Road.

Prosecutors say that Irvine, of Finch Road, and a co-accused woman, repeatedly hit him on the body with a pole 'or similar implement' to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

He made no plea through lawyer Aidan Gallagher at the sheriff court and was fully committed for trial.

Irvine is remanded in custody with a date for his next court appearance to be confirmed.
