AN elderly man wants to thank a young police officer who came to his aid in the town centre of Greenock.
David McLean said the officer helped him carry a heavy box into the post office on Tuesday and he was very grateful.
Mr McLean told the Tele: "I was carrying a heavy box from my car to the Post Office in Cathcart Street, and a young police officer saw my struggle and immediately took over by carrying the box to the counter and only left when it was safely franked and set aside for later collection.
"I am a mature gentleman and thought this young man deserved a shout out with my thanks again!
"I was impressed by his community spirit."
