WORK to upgrade a Greenock community centre should be completed later this month.

Councillor Tommy McVey has welcomed the news that the revamped Grieve Road Community Centre should be finished this week.

He told the Telegraph: "Council officers have advised that the upgrading works in the centre should be completed by May 20.

"This has been a long drawn out process which has been impacted by Covid and more recently with supply chain issues.

"Hopefully we can get the management team back in place to take things forward and to work with the Greenock South West Community Council and the ward community at large.

"The hard work starts now to get local groups and organisations to use the centre for the benefit of everyone.

"My thanks got to council officers and Inverclyde Leisure for getting this project over the line."
