A FATHER and son who have followed their side throughout this season's epic European run are hoping to be celebrating in Spain this evening.

Tom Buchan and son Mark, both from Greenock, have been going to Ibrox together for 24 years but tonight will be the biggest game they've been to.

Both men have followed Rangers throughout the Europa League's knockout stages, having been present at every home tie.

Tom was also able to make it out to every single away fixture the Gers faced except their game against Red Star Belgrade.

Mark told the Tele that it was fantastic to be able to share so many special moments with his father.

He said: "My dad took me to my first Rangers game when I was four.

"It was against Aberdeen and Paul Gascoigne scored a bundle, I've been hooked ever since.

"We've had the same two seats at Ibrox for decades.

"When we went to Manchester for the Uefa Cup Final in 2008 I thought seeing my team in a European final would be a once in a lifetime thing.

"To get the chance to go to the final with my dad is fantastic, and a win would be the icing on the cake."

Although the pair were in Manchester for the club's 2008 final only Tom managed to get a ticket.

Mark watched that match on a big screen in the city centre, under the watchful eyes of his dad's friends.

The 30-year-old, who now lives in Blackpool, trekked up to Edinburgh by train on Tuesday before flying to Dublin and then to Faro.

He then travelled from Faro to Seville alongside a group of friends in a nine-seater mini-bus, with a brief stay in Albufeira.

The journey was less complicated for dad Tom, who was lucky enough to get a spot on one of Rangers' official flights out.

He said: "We both got our tickets through the Rangers app, and I managed to get a seat on one of the official flights.

"It's been no small expense, but well worth it.

"Following them through every leg was one of those things where every time I booked it I thought 'we won't get through, this will be the last one'.

"But then suddenly you realise it's the final.

"I've worn the same jacket to all of the away legs and the guys have started saying it's lucky.

"They want me to wear it in Seville, but it's a puffer one so I'm not doing it, it'll be far too warm for that in Spain.

"They told me I should cut the arms off and wear it!

"It's just fantastic to get to be there, especially with my son and with loads of my friends going out too.

"I didn't believe we could win in 2008 as much as I do now, it's a different feeling.

"Frankfurt are no mugs, but I'm hopeful we can win."
