A BUDDING local florist got a blooming lovely surprise when she got the royal seal of approval on her handiwork.

Lisa Turner, owner of HEY BUD florist, got a shock when she discovered the flower arrangement she had made for a 'special visitor' went to none other than the Duchess of Cambridge.

William and Kate, known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn in Scotland, stopped past St John's Primary in the Port last week as part of their Royal Scottish tour to mark the Queen's platinum jubilee year.

The Greenock florist, who started her business around a year ago, says she was 'in shock' when she finally realised who the VIP customer was.

The 28-year-old told the Tele: "I received the order the week before from Jennifer McGachy at the school and she just said they were for a special visitor.

"I expected maybe an old head teacher or something, but I would never have guessed it would be Kate Middleton.

"It was such a great surprise.

"I'm so chuffed to have been asked.

"It was a bit surreal seeing Kate holding the flowers that I made in photographs."

Lisa, who also works for a local solicitor firm, started attending night classes in floristry as she was keen to get into the business.

The Greenockian, who lives with husband Martin, admits she does not know if she'll ever top the special order.

She added: "I love what I do, it's really taken off and I've been so well supported.

"I deliver bouquets from Kilmacolm to Largs and I think they do well as they are a different style from other things offered locally.

"But I don't think I'll ever get a customer who is more famous than a royal!"
