A GREENOCK man charged with carrying out a street assault and stealing jewellery has been locked up.
John Traill, 28, is accused of seizing hold of another man's neck at the town's Watt Place.
He is also charged with shouting at and threatening the man.
Traill, of Broomhill Court, is facing a separate allegation of making threats and acting aggressively towards a female staff member at the Inverclyde Centre in January.
He has pleaded not guilty through lawyer Gerry Keenan at the sheriff court.
Sheriff Thomas Ward refused bail, telling Traill: "You have pages and pages of previous convictions."
Matters are due to call again on May 31.
