A YOUNG Greenock woman has told how she is 'earning whilst learning' thanks to the Modern Apprenticeship scheme.

Former Notre Dame High School pupil Eva Anderson, 18, is halfway through a one-year programme with the Safer Security Group - and is revelling in the workplace environment.

Eva said: "I'd definitely recommend it to others because it's a great way to earn money while still learning. It also gives you a feeling for the real world without being thrown right in the deep end.

"If you go to college then it is very similar to school, which could be good for some people as they maybe don't want to leave and are anxious about getting a job, but a task oriented Modern Apprenticeship definitely helps with this.

"I'm treated as a grown up and given bigger responsibilities.

"My colleagues show me a lot of support and give me help me when I need it."

Ryan Clark, founder and CEO of Safer Security Group, which also operates as Safer Scotland, said: "Eva is our first Modern Apprentice and has had a real impact on the business in the short time she has been here.

"In time, I believe, she will become a highly valued member of the team, forging her own career, perhaps in sales, and making a substantial contribution to the success of our business."
