Plans for a new restaurant in Greenock, proposals to revamp a former car showroom and Tesco changes all feature in this week's planning round-up.

Restaurant plan for former shop

A bid to transform the former Topps Tiles store in Greenock town centre into an 80-seater restaurant is being considered by Inverclyde Council.

A ‘change of use’ application has been made to turn the empty Container Way premises into a restaurant with booth and table seating.

Planning papers say that new windows and doors would be installed at the property along with toilets, a kitchen and space to prepare and store food.

The existing car park at the premises, which has enough space for around 15 vehicles, would be left unchanged.

The documents submitted alongside the application do not indicate who will be running the premises if the new development is approved.

Council officials are currently considering the application.

Greenock Telegraph:

Fire-damaged homes in Inverkip will be reinstated

Planners have given the go-ahead for two new houses to be built in Inverkip.

They will take the place of the properties which were destroyed in a blaze last year.

The two properties on Findhorn Crescent were pulled down after being gutted by flames last May.

Work on the new buildings is expected to begin soon.

Petrol station proposals are approved

Councillors have approved a bid for a new petrol station along the main road in Greenock which could create 30 new jobs.

Members of the planning board have rubberstamped plans to redevelop the former Arnold Clark Vauxhall garage on Port Glasgow Road - with Shell and BP identified as potential operators for the site.

There will be a food servery and sales area and the approved plans also include the addition of four electric vehicle charging spaces, automated laundry units and two jet wash bays.

Greenock Telegraph:

Balcony bid submitted

Proposals for a ‘roof balcony’ at a Greenock west end address have been lodged with the council.

If the plans are given the go-ahead, the balcony will be added onto an existing upstairs bedroom at an address on South Street.

Green light for extension in Kilmacolm

A proposal to add a two storey extension onto a Kilmacolm house has been approved.

Inverclyde Council planners have given the goahead for an extension to the address on Barr’s Brae.

Tesco given go-ahead

Tesco have been given retrospective planning permission for electric vehicle chargers at their Greenock store.

The supermarket giant had previously installed a pair of charging stations at the store without seeking council consent.

Now their bid for retrospective planning permission has received sign off from Inverclyde Council officials.

Work on new Co-op store is progressing

Construction of the new Co-op store in Gourock is progressing at pace.

The shop is being built on the former Fisher Trucks site in Cardwell Road and will replace the firm’s existing in Shore Street and Cardwell Road.

Demolition works were recently completed and a metal skeleton has now been erected for the new store.

A pedestrian crossing is being installed on Cardwell Road as part of the overall project, while the site will have 23 parking spaces.
