KIDS will be making a racquet as summer tennis camps get set to begin at Fort Matilda.

The programme starts next month and the sessions will be open to all ages and abilities, with daily and weekly bookings available to keep things flexible.

Steph Swan, head tennis coach for both Ardgowan & Fort Matilda tennis clubs, says the sport is more popular than ever before in the area with youngsters leading the charge.

She said: "Over the last four years it has grown massively.

"The summer camps are really popular, people can sign up for day or weekly camps."

The sessions begin on July 4 for an initial three week block before a further programme takes place in August.

They are open to children aged from three and a half to 16-year-olds.

Steph said: "Tennis is a great game for families and we offer a siblings discount.

"Wimbledon helps in the summer, with people watching it on TV and thinking they might try tennis out."

This year's morning camps will runs from 9am until noon for kids up to 10.

There is a nursery class between noon and 12.45 and from 12.30 to 3.30pm older children aged between 11 and 16 take to the court.

All sessions will take place at Fort Matilda and places can be booked by calling Steph on 07414221022 or emailing stephanieswan2018@hotmail.com
