CHURCHGOERS from Gourock have put their best foot forward to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

The congregation from St John's have walked over two million steps as part of a Christian Aid fundraising challenge.

The church's team have raised more than £1,000 for the cause - and hope to reach £2,500 by the end of the donation drive.

They have been walking individually and in teams, each looking to cover 300,000 steps.

Church Reverend Teri Peterson told the Tele that the charity was 'extremely important' to St John's.

She said: "The work that Christian Aid does around the world to support people who are living in poverty and combat the effects of climate change needs funding.

“We’re happy to participate to help boost these funds.

“Some of us are doing 300,000 steps on our own, others are working in small teams of two or three people.

“We wanted everyone to be able to participate whatever their physical ability might be.

“We’ve easily taken two millions of steps for this cause, and everyone has played their part."
