A RISING stage star youngster from Port Glasgow who recently performed on TV show Britain's Got Talent is now taking on the world in Spain.

Dancer Isabella Hay, 10, is representing Scotland in this week's World Cup Finals in San Sebastian in Spain - and she was given the honour of leading the team.

The talented all-rounder has qualified to for five solo categories, including showdance, ballet, street/commercial, national and song and dance.

Her mum Mariann said: "We are very proud of Isabella.

"This is the second consecutive year Isabella has qualified to represent Team Scotland and she continues to train hard and keep her dedication to dance and musical theatre.

"Isabella won the highest scoring solo from Team Scotland in the qualifiers and was totally overwhelmed at being selected to be the Team Scotland mascot to lead them out in the opening parade.

"It’s a big honour."

Her family and local businesses rallied round to make it possible for Isabella to take part.

Mariann said: "The whole family have been a huge help in helping her to take part in the event in Spain, especially her gran and granda Fay and Ronnie and her aunt Linda and uncle Colin.

"She’s a lucky girl having so many people in her corner, as without them this wouldn’t have been possible.

"Her biggest supporter, her aunt Julie-Ann will make sure everyone back home can tune in live to watch Isabella and she will keep them all up to date as this week goes on."

Isabella, who attends Jackson Studios of Dance and Performing Arts jetted out to Spain with her mum and dance teacher Linda Jackson.

Her family would like to thank all the local businesses for sponsoring Isabella - Plumbing and Heating on Tap, Temporal Travel, Vortex Electrical and Carpetrite in Greenock.
