PUPILS at Kilmacolm Primary staged an emotional theatrical performance after Scottish Opera visited the school for a special workshop.

Working together they produced a powerful production - called The Last Aliens - which tackled the important topic of climate change.

The show also marked the first time parents had been able to return to the school since Covid-19 public health restrictions were eased.

Head teacher Simone McCredie said: "We are delighted to have everyone back in.

"It is great to welcome our parents because we have missed them all so much.

"It was great to have Scottish Opera back at the school too, they are tremendous."

The Scottish Opera team worked with the kids to produce the show and Mrs McCredie said she was 'very proud of everyone involved'.

One of the stars of the day was primary seven pupil Max Marner.

He said: "It was great fun and we enjoyed getting the message across about the climate. "

Scottish Opera's Alan McKenzie said: "It is great to be back performing and working with Kilmacolm Primary.

"We have all had such a great time.

"The children worked so hard and we would like to thank the teachers for their support."
