A POPULAR singer/songwriter has chosen Greenock as the location for his only live performance of 2022.

Pete MacLeod will return to his home town in September to play Greenock Town Hall in a gig that has been years in the making.

The musician was all set to go on tour before the pandemic struck in March 2020.

He sold out a show in the town's OYO Gin House Hotel in December last year, but had to cancel it due to continued coronavirus restrictions.

Due to recording commitments, it's likely that the Greenock gig on September 24 will be Pete's only show this year.

Pete said: "I love playing live and Greenock is a great place with great people.

"We had to cancel the gig in the smaller venue but with so many people looking for tickets, we had to move it to the town hall.

"I'm so grateful for that."

Just days before lockdown hit, Pete's self-released track Firing Line had reached the top of the UK physical singles chart.

During the pandemic, he also launched a new act, 3SouL, with two other musicians and released two singles.

Pete says he's looking forward to seeing everyone at the town hall and playing his songs live again.

He added: "It's a stunning venue."
