NURSERY tots were going for goals as they kicked off the summer by enjoying a final action-packed mini Morton football session.

Wellpark Nursery has hosted the Ton community trust team for a programme which the youngsters have relished.

Joan McKenna, depute head at Wellpark said the kids received goodie bags for their achievements after kicking the ball around the grounds and scoring goals.

She said: "It's great to have these events back again after the restrictions.

"Seeing the kids light up and enjoy themselves like this has been amazing.

"They can all be proud of the six weeks they spent doing the Morton mini kicks programme."

Other events held during a busy end of term celebration week included visits to the bunny park at Gourock Walled Gardens, 'boogie bugs' dancing, a bouncy castle and an eagerly-awaited visit from an ice cream van.

Joan added: "All the children have had a wonderful time.

"Everyone has missed being all together like this.

"Some of the kids will be leaving for school after summer, so it was good to have this celebration for them.

"They are all a bunch of characters and will be sorely missed but they'll do fantastically well when they go to school."

Joan thanked Morton in the Community for coming along for the party as well as all the parents and other helpers.

She added: "We would also like to thank our families for their support especially through all the restrictions of the pandemic.

"We wish everyone a safe fun summer break and look forward to seeing our returning families and new families in August."
