THE first group of students to start their secondary school career at the old Greenock High School are re-uniting after 50 years.

Fiona Byng, née Magill, is gathering together former pupils who began S1 at the school when it first opened in 1972.

Pupils finished P7 at schools including Lady Alice, Larkfield, Springfield and Ravenscraig before they headed for the brand new building in Spango Valley.

Organiser Fiona said: "We had more than 80 people at the last reunion 10 years ago so we're hoping to see even more people this time around.

"We know that we'll have at least one former pupil arriving from overseas.

"It's been lovely to rekindle friendships and forge new ones."

The disco and buffet will take place at Gourock Golf Club on September 24.
