A TROUPE of talented dancers gave a resounding cheer after securing the top spot in a coveted competition to round off the season.

ICE Allstars scooped the first prize at the prestigious Scottish Regional Championships in Motherwell after impressing judges with a stunning routine of stunts, tumbles and cheering.

Founded by local dancers Stef Hood and Chloe Farmer around a year and a half ago, the team started off competition season with a desire to get no deductions from judges and to improve their scores each time.

Co-founder and dancer Chloe says they were 'shocked and chuffed' in equal measure to be taking home titles so early on.

The 24-year-old told the Tele: "We went along to our first competition with no expectations, we just wanted our competition team to have the experience.

"Not only did we win that, since then we've placed in the top spots for the other competitions we've entered.

"We're so chuffed and shocked - we just wanted to improve our scores each time.

"Our last score we improved by four points which is a huge deal.

"I'm so proud of the team."

The dance school, who practice at George Square Studios, are ready to expand - with plans to go from one competition team to as many as four next season.

Chloe told the Tele: "We are expecting around 50 new dancers to join us next season meaning our teams will be expanding too.

"We've dancers at different levels, so we will be able to enter tougher competitions.

"We didn't expect to grow so quickly, it's been amazing.

"To go from online rehearsals during lockdown to winning competitions in less than two years is a big deal for us."

Chloe says the group are also looking to recruit dancers who would like to take part in classes for fun.

The Greenockian added: "We have a recreational class who don't compete, so our door is always open for anyone looking to come and give it a go.

"We're recruiting for both our recreational class and competition team, so for anyone who would like to come along, we would be delighted to see you."
