CHARITY champs are bubbling over with excitement as they get set to raise lots of cash at an event in memory of a much-loved late family member.

The group, named 'Christine's Cherubs' in honour of late family member Christine Mcanespie, are gearing up for the Bubble Rush at Queen's Park in Glasgow in aid of Ardgowan Hospice.

They have been honouring Christine, who passed away in October 2019 after a battle with cancer, by donating to the local hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Supporters of all ages will battle the bubble stations along the route on Sunday August 14 which will see cannons pumping out coloured foam to create a deep bubble bath.

The core team of fundraisers who founded Christine's Cherubs, made up of Jaclyn Sweeney and her younger sister Kelsey, both from Skelmorlie, and their aunt Lynn Conway from Wemyss Bay, have raised thousands for the compassionate place of care over the last few years.

Lynn, who runs Wemyss Bay Cafè, says the group of 10 hope to boost that total as they take part in the event for the first time since before the pandemic.

She said: "We're planning on wearing tutus and angel wings to pay tribute to Christine and the name of our group.

"We've raised thousands of pounds for Ardgowan, so we are looking forward to topping this up again at the event."

Making up the full group of big-hearted fundraisers are Kim Wilson, Jade Houston, Olivia Moran, Karen Mitchell, Jeanette Gribben, Holly Mitchell and youngest member Amelia Mitchell.

Fundraiser star Jaclyn says she's looking forward to getting back together in aid of the good cause.

She added: "It's such a fun day, the kids all love it so it's great we've managed to get a bigger team of us together this time.

"Hopefully we'll be able to raise a good amount of money for a great cause."

People of all ages are being encouraged to sign up to take part in the event in aid of the local charity.

Ardgowan's fundraising manager Joanna Hunter said: "We’re excited to see one of our favourite events back in action.

"The course is family friendly, so you can run, jog, walk, dance or toddle through the foam.

"The event is not timed, so you’re not racing anyone - the most important thing is that you enjoy your time in the bubbles and finish with a big smile on your face."
