SPAR have pledged to clean up a fly-tipping hotspot after the Telegraph intervened on locals' behalf.

Residents of Huntly Terrace contacted the Tele about overflowing bins near the former Spar store on Princes Street, which they said were attracting vermin.

In response to our enquiry, a Spar UK spokesperson said the store would arrange for the mess to be removed.

They said: "We are aware of a fly-tipping issue at the former Spar store on Princes Street in Port Glasgow.

"While we have not traded from this location for the past two years we have arranged for the current refuse to be removed from this area and have reported the issue to the local authorities."
