COASTGUARD rescue officers were deployed to key locations in Inverclyde due to problems with radio coverage.
The Maritime & Coastguard Agency confirmed there was a technical issue with very high frequency distress radio coverage at the weekend.
They said HM Coastguard's ability to receive distress signals was unaffected, and there was no impact on incident response.
The spokesperson added: "As a precautionary measure, we activated our business continuity plans for key radio sites to ensure there was cover while the issues were investigated.
"We also broadcast a navigational warning to shipping and sent coastguard rescue officers to key locations."
