A GREENOCK man charged with verbally abusing his partner and demanding money from her has had his trial postponed - because police have not yet provided a recording of a 999 call to prosecutors.

Craig Hill, 24, had been due to have his case heard but it could not proceed because the Crown requires the currently unavailable emergency call.

Fiscal depute Laura Wilcox said: "The 999 tape has not yet been provided to my office."

Hill's lawyer, Aidan Gallagher, made a motion for his client to be allowed bail in the meantime.

Hill, of Douglas Rae Road, is accused of shouting, swearing, uttering offensive remarks, demanding money and entry to his partner's home in Port Glasgow on July 1.

Sheriff David Pender refused the bail application and adjourned the trial until August 11.
