A YOUTH organisation is celebrating a decade of fundraising after reaching a magic £25,000 milestone.

The 3rd Gourock Boys Brigade hit the figure at their annual charity quiz as they collected cash for a local mental health charity and another set up by Scottish rugby legend player Doddie Weir, who suffers from MND.

Allan Warrick, who helps out with the company at Old Gourock and Ashton Church, said: "The senior boys of the 3rd Gourock Boys’ Brigade recently held their annual charity quiz night at Gourock Golf Club.

"This quiz has been running for 10 years and it was magnificent to reach the sum of £25,000, which has helped many charities locally and nationally."

The recent event raised £1,500 which was split between Man On Inverclyde and My Name is Doddie.

Allan added: "The boys work on this project throughout the BB session, choosing and contacting the beneficiary charities, organising the venue and catering, printing entry and raffle tickets and making up the quiz questions."

The star lot was a hospitality package for two at Ibrox, which helped boost the total.

The company would like to thank everyone who made the night a success, in particular the 120 people who attended and all those who bought raffle tickets, as well as the individuals and businesses who donated raffle prizes.
