CHILDREN in Inverclyde have been whisked away to a magical fairytale world thanks to local libraries during the holidays.

They recently welcomed children's author and environmentalist Alex Mullarky along for a special storytelling session from her first novel.

On the same day as the visit with the author, there were also crafts sessions for kids.

Councillor Francesca Brennan, who is a former youth librarian, said: "Our libraries have been doing a brilliant job with lots of fantastic activities.

"It is really making a difference and helping parents this summer.

"We want as many people as possible to use the libraries."
