A DIEHARD Morton fan who set up his own football team during the pandemic now finds himself playing for world famous psychic Uri Geller's 'national' side.

In an extraordinary turn of events Hamish Law's amateur outfit has been adopted by the showman, who owns his own island off the east coast of Scotland.

Hamish and his North Berwick side team-mates now officially represent the 'micronation' Lamb Island, with Uri dreaming of putting them into the World Cup.

The 26-year-old, who plays in the team with his younger brother Cameron, said: "It is all completely crazy but it is great fun - and it is raising awareness of an important cause.

"I co-founded the team with friends during Covid because we all needed something to keep active and to help with mental health.

"Setting up a football team seemed like a really positive thing to do to help people, we were all struggling with lockdowns and restrictions.

"Instead of taking fees from our players, we all make a donation to mental health charity SAMH."

The Saturday league amateurs caught the attention of Geller when he revealed he was looking to form a Lamb Island national team and they decided to send him a message.

Unbelievably the Israeli national took them up on their offer, joined their team WhatsApp group and became their chairman.

Now he plans to enter them into the Micro Nations World Cup.

Hamish said: "It is all brilliant fun, Uri is really enthusiastic.

"We knew he was looking for a team and we have changed our name from North Berwick Amateurs to the Lamb Football Team.

"We even have a national anthem!"

Recruitment consultant Hamish and his brother Cameron, 24, grew up in North Berwick, but their dad Nigel, 60, is from Greenock and passed his love of Morton onto his sons.

Hamish said: "We are the only Morton fans in North Berwick I think!

"We grew up travelling to Greenock on Saturdays, visiting family and then going to Cappielow.

"All three of us still go to as many games as we possibly can and we are all shareholders in the club.

"We managed to catch the Cove Rangers game the other week, which was great."

As a talented youngster Hamish was signed by Hibs before moving to the USA to play the game.

He played with junior side Dunbar until a series of shoulder injuries forced him to give up and he turned amateur.

Now he is loving life with his new team.

Despite all the attention they are now attracting thanks to their new chairman Geller, Hamish was more excited when he bumped Morton manager Dougie Imrie, PICTURED.

Hamish said: "The biggest thing that has happened to me recently was meeting Dougie Imrie while I was shopping in Livingston.

"I was like a big kid, I didn't know whether to ask him for a picture.

"But I couldn't let it go.

"He was really nice and he is doing a great job at the club."
