MORTON boss Dougie Imrie says he and his staff are working to bring in one more player to complete the squad after adding a tenth signing earlier this week.

The Ton have brought in former Motherwell man Liam Grimshaw on a short-term deal until January and the boss has told of his delight at landing a player of his calibre.

With the loan window in Scotland open until the end of the month Imrie wants to add another forward to complete the squad.

He told the Tele: "I am trying to get another player in, we have got a few more weeks to try and do that.

"It will come down to the club and the player - first and foremost if the other club want to let him out and secondly if the player wants to come here.

"We are actively trying to get a player at the top end of the pitch to try help us up there, but I am delighted to have brought Liam in this week.

"He has played over 100 games in the top flight and his experience, attitude, work rate and desire is everything that I look for in a player.

"He has got it in abundance and can only enhance us as a team."

Imrie says the Englishman's versatility was another key reason for capturing his signature.

He told the Tele: "Liam's a quality player who has played at a very good level and been in the Premiership for the last six or seven years at Motherwell.

"He can play a number of positions which will give us help as well.

"These are the type of players that I want to try and bring to the club."

Imrie admits it was not ideal to be unable to bounce straight back from the defeat to Ayr when last Saturday's card was called off following the death of the Her Majesty the Queen.

And he has also warned his players not to take Arbroath lightly tomorrow despite their dismal start to the campaign, urging the team to be clinical in front of goal if they want to see them off.

He said: "It was frustrating not to continue last week but obviously the circumstances surrounding why the game was off are important.

"A lot of the other sporting events were off as well so it wasn’t just ourselves affected, probably a lot of the world was with the situation.

"It was outwith our hands that the game was off so we have got to just move on.

"We have got an opportunity tomorrow to do that, but it won’t be easy as Arbroath are a good team.

"I know they have lost a few players over the last two or three weeks, but Dick Campbell and his brother Ian will regroup their squad.

"This season has been a bit stop-start for them with players leaving, injuries and suspensions.

"I don’t think they’ve managed to sort out their attack yet, obviously last season they had Joel Nouble from Livingston then big Jack Hamilton, who were their main focal points, and that gave them a platform to build from at the top end of the pitch.

"They have had a lot of upheaval since the summer.

"We have to make sure that when we get our opportunities we put them away, and that should hopefully get us the three points.

"We need to give Arbroath respect, but when we are at home any team coming here must know that they are in a game - and that will be no different for Arbroath tomorrow."
