STAFF at a Greenock opticians have an eye on stepping up their fundraising efforts to help people living with cancer.

A total of 15 members of the team at Specsavers in the Oak Mall are each walking two miles a day for the duration of October to raise money for Breast Cancer Now.

The willing walkers hope the trekking activity will help raise £300 for the research and support charity.

Store director Claire Kincaid said the team have already covered around 500 miles and are aiming to reach the 1,000-mile mark by the end of the month.

Claire said: "So many of us have our lives touched by the effects of cancer, so we wanted to play whatever part we could in helping to raise a little extra money to support anyone going through this.

"It's been incredible to see the team all jump on board and commit to going the extra mile or two to raise funds for such a vital cause."

To help generate more funds, the store held a Wear It Pink day and organised a raffle.

Claire said: "We want to thank everyone for their extraordinary support."
