A TALENTED young footballer has been given a goal-den opportunity to kickstart his professional career after signing for one of Scotland's oldest clubs.

Notre Dame High School pupil Jamie Bradley told the Tele of his delight to have penned a deal with Queen's Park's, joining up with the Championship club's under-18s side.

The 16-year-old, who has played for local side Greenock Juniors as a youngster, hopes his move into the professional ranks will be the next step towards fulfilling his dream of playing football full-time.

The youngster, who has been playing football since the age of four, is a keen Celtic supporter and wants to emulate the exploits of his favourite player Callum McGregor.

Jamie previously spent several years with the Rangers pro-youth academy and has previously been on trial with St Mirren.

The young central midfielder says he's determined to take his chance with The Spiders.

He said: "I'm excited about getting the chance to play for Queen's Park.

"I really want to make a career out of this.

"Being at Rangers for the length of time I was there was a good achievement and one that I'm quite proud of, getting re-signed year after year.

"We went abroad for quite a few tournaments, which was a great experience.

"We went out to Amsterdam at under-10s and a year or two after we were in Germany."

Jamie did not take long to impress Queen's Park coaches to earn the chance of a contract.

He said: "I was on trial for two weeks and after my second game they called me into the changing room and said they wanted to sign me.

"The set up is really good and the guys have been really helpful."

Jamie currently trains six times a week with his new side, while maintaining continuing with his studies at school and social life.

He says the long hours are worth it.

He added: "This is all I've wanted to do ever since I was a wee boy.

"It's a great opportunity for me and I'm glad to have been given it.

"Now I've just got to keep my head down, work hard and see what happens."
