A MAN has been charged with inflicting alleged life-threatening attacks on his former partner and a child at addresses in Inverclyde.
Graham Bolton is facing a total of 11 indictment charges regarding allegations of violence stretching back more than 32 years.
Bolton, 59, is accused of seizing and compressing his ex's neck until she lost consciousness to the danger of her life in January 1993.
He is further charged with throttling a child who was aged 11 at the time of another alleged life-endangering assault in 2009.
Prosecutors say these alleged incidents occurred at addresses on Bournemouth Road in Gourock and Cullen Crescent in Inverkip respectively.
It is alleged that Bolton carried out an initial violent attack on his former partner in Clydebank in February 1990.
The Crown says he assaulted the woman on six occasions between 1990 and 2006.
Bolton is accused of pushing her into a glass cabinet, punching and kicking her, pulling her hair out and spitting on her.
He is charged with assaulting two children when they were aged 14 and 11, and is said to have punched the elder on the head and body in 2006.
Bolton is accused of repeatedly striking the younger child on the head and body and well as compressing the alleged victim's neck.
Prosecutors say that other locations for alleged incidents — which are said to have taken place between February 1990 and December 2009 — were a house on Inverkip's Glen Crescent, Kempock Street in Gourock and the A8 road.
Bolton, whose address was not given in court, has pleaded not guilty to all of the allegations against him.
The case is due to call at Greenock Sheriff Court again on January 24.
