A WOMAN with serious asthma has hit out at her housing provider over her damp home which is covered in dangerous black mould.

Brenda Magee moved into a River Clyde Homes property on Bearhope Street in April but there are black patches on growing on the walls.

The 56-year-old has been sleeping in her living room due to mould in her bedroom becoming 'out of control'.

She says a carpet and couch have also been affected and items belonging to her and partner Paul Burns have had to be thrown out.

Brenda said: "The house is knocking me ill.

"I don't remember a day where I wasn't coughing or struggling to breathe.

"I've reported the issue umpteen times and seem to be getting nowhere.

"River Clyde Homes have told me it's just condensation, but anyone can clearly see the house is affected by damp causing black mould.

"My furniture is soaking and so many items are ruined or have had to be put in the bin.

"How can they leave someone like this?"

Brenda says that a representative from the housing association visited the property and measured up for extractor fans, then there was 'no update in months'.

Her partner believes the housing problems are causing Brenda mental and physical distress.

He told the Tele: "Brenda uses inhalers and has been constantly unwell now for months.

"It's causing her such a lot of stress.

"It's clear that there is a real issue in the property, but they keep fobbing her off.

"It's a ridiculous way to leave someone."

Brenda says other residents in the block are facing similar issues.

She added: "My upstairs neighbour has mould, although not on the same scale as my home.

"It's ruining my life, I've got a constant headache as I am so stressed with it all.

"I've never as many health problems in my life and they all only started when I moved in here.

"I've had enough of it."

The Telegraph contacted River Clyde Homes and highlighted Brenda's case.

A spokesperson for RCH said: "Operatives from our contractor Home Fix Scotland carried out initial works at this property on November 14 and 15, and a follow-up appointment was identified as necessary to install an additional electrical circuit and two extractor fans.

"We will be in touch with Ms Magee soon to arrange for these works to be carried out, which should resolve this issue.

"We would like to apologise to Ms Magee for the delay in completing the necessary works, and for the subsequent inconvenience caused."
