A MAN issued death threats against two people whilst in possession of a knife at Tesco in Port Glasgow, it is alleged.

Randolph Edwards, 44, is said to have pursued a man and a woman at the store after allegedly uttering an offensive comment.

Prosecutors say he assaulted the man by lunging at him and attempting to strike him.

Edwards is further charged with possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knife.

He is said to have committed the alleged offences on January 31.

Edwards, whose address was not given in court, has pleaded not guilty to all of the allegations through lawyer Aidan Gallagher at the sheriff court.

The case is due to call again on May 30, ahead of a trial scheduled for June 19.
