A GREENOCK man has sustained life-changing injuries during a robbery attack which saw thieves make off with a four-figure sum of cash.

Detectives are continuing enquiries after a 29-year-old was attacked and robbed in a Murdieston Street flat around 8.30pm on February 28.

Two men are believed to have forced their way into the property before making off with a four-figure sum of cash.

The man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries and medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are reviewing CCTV footage for any information on the suspects.

Detective Constable Brian Connelly said: “This young man has sustained life changing injuries in this violent and unprovoked attack.

"We are following a positive line of inquiry, however, we still need assistance from the public and I am asking anyone with information to contact us, no matter how insignificant the information may seem.

"I would also ask anyone with recording equipment to check the footage as it could hold images which could assist our ongoing investigation.”

He added: "I’m aware people have concerns following the death of a man in Nairn Road earlier this week, however, I want to reassure everyone that there are no links to that incident.

"Additional officers remain on patrol and anyone with concerns can speak to those officers."
