A PORT man threatened to burn down his ex-partner's home and blow up her car.

Michael Gallacher caused the woman to suffer psychological harm during a three-month campaign of abusive behaviour following the break-up of their relationship.

Gallacher, 29, of Broadfield Avenue, repeatedly contacted her in a bid to reconcile despite multiple requests for him not to.

He also waited for the woman on a number of occasions at a place he knew she frequented and followed her in his car.

Gallacher told her he would torch her house and blow up her car if she ever moved on from the relationship.

He pleaded guilty through lawyer Paul Keenan to committing the offences between July 1 and November 8, 2019.

Sheriff David Pender has deferred sentence until April for a background report and electronic tagging assessment.
