THE UK Government has announced dates for the first 2023/24 cost of living payments which will be distributed to eligible benefit claimants in Inverclyde.

They will receive £301 from the DWP between April 25 and May 17.

This is the first of three DWP payments totalling up to £900 for means-tested benefits claimants who are on the likes of universal credit, child tax credit, income-based jobseekers allowance or pension credit, as part of the government’s Cost of Living support package.

Additional £150 disability payments and £300 pensioner payments mean some people will receive up to £1,350.

UK Government Minister for Scotland John Lamont said: “This builds on the extensive support that was delivered to Scottish households last year, along with further measures to stabilise the economy and reduce inflation outlined by the Chancellor in the Budget."
