THE council is to splash out £1 million of its reserves towards a 'digital modernisation' drive.

It is working on a three year strategy to increase and promote the range of digital services available to both its employees and customers.

Bosses say the aim is to improve user experience and interaction with council departments, reduce costs and improve efficiency and productivity.

Officials will replace the local authority's complaints system and bring in a new electronic package for the work of their human resources department.

As well as back office functions changing, they will also be replacing the existing school catering system which is going out of contract.

A new licensing database is also to be brought in, amongst a whole host of other IT projects.
