POST Office bosses have announced that the new branch which will be opening in Port Glasgow town centre will offer over 50 hours of service per week.

The counter will be based within the U Save shop on John Wood Street and it will open on Friday 28 April at 1pm.

The opening hours will be Monday–Friday 7.30am-5pm and Saturday 7.30am-1pm, offering 53 hours of postal services a week for customers who have been without a nearby branch for over three years.

The previous branch at 59 Princes Street closed down after a serious fire at the premises in March 2020, followed by the resignation of the operator.

Scott Hamilton, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We are delighted to soon be restoring a Post Office to this area.

"We are keen to restore this branch to the area as soon as possible, so we have decided to go ahead with our plans."
