A GREENOCK man charged with seizing and compressing a woman's throat and repeatedly headbutting her in an alleged domestic attack is set to stand trial at the sheriff court.

Francis Kelly, 24, of Regent Street, denies restricting his partner or ex-partner's ability to breathe at a flat elsewhere in the town in November 2021.

Prosecutors say he also shouted, swore, acted aggressively and struck a window with a cup.

Kelly has pleaded not guilty through lawyer Ellen Macdonald and the case is due to call again on May 2, ahead of a trial scheduled for May 18.
