More than 90 brethren and friends attended Lodge Greenock Kilwinning No XII’s annual Burns Supper.

Brian McFadyen, Right Worshipful Master (RWM) of Greenock’s oldest organisation, chaired the proceedings.

A thoughtful and sincere Immortal Memory was proposed by Bro Bobby Kane, Past Master (PM) of Lodge Polkemmet No 927 and past president of the Robert Burns World Federation.

Bro Willie Dick, PM of Lodge Sanquhar Kilwinning No 194, gave a unique and hilarious Toast to the Lasses.

Guests included Inverclyde Provost Drew McKenzie who reflected on the antiquity of Lodge No XII which dates to 1728, its place in the social fabric of the district, and its ongoing support for good causes through its charitable work.

Grace was said by Bro Robin McIntyre, Right Worshipful Immediate Past Provincial Grand Master.

Bro Colin Reddy addressed the Haggis while his father, Bro Sandy, recited Tam o’ Shanter.

The company was entertained by singer Alan D Beck, PM, and accompanists Craig Dunsmore, keyboards, and Jamie Stables, trumpet and accordion. PM Iain White was the piper.

The evening was, as usual, a fund raiser for the lodge’s Charity Drive. More than £4,000 was raised from donations, raffles and an auction.

Lodge No XII traditionally asks Inverclyde’s Provost to nominate a charity to benefit from its charitable efforts and Drew McKenzie’s choice was Ardgowan Hospice. The lodge’s general committee decided that Children in Poverty Inverclyde will also receive financial support.

Sponsors for the evening included Blairs Windows, ICE Catering, Greenock Golf Club, Gourock Golf Club, Skelmorlie Golf Club, Western Gailes Golf Club and Gleneagles Hotel.

Top table guests included Bro Billy Mooney, RWM Lodge Doric Kilwinning No 68, Bro George McGaughey, PM of Lodge Bonhill and Alexandria Royal Arch No 321 and Alexandria Burns Club president, and Bro John McKenzie, RWM of Lodge Greenock St John’s No 175 and St John’s Burns Club president.
