KIND-hearted fundraisers from an Inverclyde youth organisation have stepped in to support children from war-torn Ukraine — and also families at home.

The 3rd Gourock Company Boys' Brigade raised an incredible £2,000 for both Dnipro Ukraine Kids and Inverclyde Foodbank at a sell-out charity quiz night at Gourock Golf Club.

A Boys Brigade spokesman said: "In total from the sale of entry tickets and over 2,000 raffle tickets the boys managed to raise the magnificent sum of £2,059.

"The 12 senior boys involved had been working on this project since last October.

"The staff and boys of the 3rd Gourock are most grateful to all who supported the event whether that be attending on the night, purchasing raffle tickets or the numerous individuals and businesses who kindly donated raffle prizes."

Greenock Telegraph:

The company section chose the charities, designed the entry and raffle tickets and the raffle tickets and drew up all the questions.

On the night, a packed audience of 120 people enjoyed the fun but competitive quiz.

Donations from the night will go to Dnipro Ukraine Kids, which was set up by football fans in Edinburgh to help look after children orphaned since the outbreak of war in their homeland.

The Boys Brigade are also donating to the Inverclyde Foodbank, which helps support thousands of families locally ever year.

The company has a tremendous record on fundraising having raised £8,000 last year to kit out the 3rd Boys Brigade with new kilts.
