A GOUROCK DJ is hoping his latest track will give Greenock fighter Reece McEwan the boost he needs to triumph in his next major bantamweight bout.

Music producer Bruce Glenny has created a new walkout track for the talented mixed martial artist — but he'll have to wait before it can be played.

Reece was all set to take on Dutchman Daan Duijs in a Cage Warriors battle this weekend but he's been ruled out after picking up an injury.

So the new tune — a mix of Gerry Cinnamon’s Canter and Body Talk by Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike — will have to be put on ice for a while.

Bruce told the Tele that Reece had chosen the songs because they had a special significance to him.

Greenock Telegraph:

He said: “Body Talk is the song Reece used to walk out to when he first started off fighting and we blended that with Canter, which has lyrics that resonate with Reece, to mix the old and new of his career into one track.

“Reece really likes a particular lyric from Canter – ‘this is the beginning of the rest of your life’ – and if you listen carefully throughout the song you’ll hear those wee Gerry Cinnamon bits repeated.

"I'm really excited about it.

“It drives him and I’m hoping it helps him through his next fight, and future fights.

“It’s beyond special to be part of this, I’ve been following Reece since he started out and it’s amazing what he’s doing.

“He didn’t need to come to me, he could have approached someone at a much higher professional level than me, but he wanted to keep it local and support his area.

“I’m really grateful to him, there’s not many people that get the opportunity to work with a fighter of his level.”

Reece’s big brawl — when it eventually comes round — will be his fourth Cage Warriors fight, with the talented pugilist having already won his first three.

The 28-year-old is hoping that a win will secure him a title fight and the chance to make his UFC dreams come true.

Greenock Telegraph:

He added: “Bruce’s track will definitely give me a big boost when I walk out to it, I’ve been listening to it non-stop.

“When I get home it’s the first song I listen to, I listen to it when I train, I have it on everywhere I go.

“It gets me right in the zone, he’s given me a spark I haven’t had before.

“It might just be a song to some people, but that’s the last thing I’ll hear before my next fight and when I hear it I know it’s go time.

“I feel incredible for the fight, I’ve been in the gym since my last one and I feel like I’ve taken my mixed martial arts game to another level.

Greenock Telegraph:

“The hard part comes when I need to show why I deserve to be at the top of the division.

“The local connection with Bruce and the people who come to support me is incredible.

“I’m big on growing Inverclyde as a place and working together with talented local guys is a big part of that.”
