THE sun shone as the new bowling season got underway at Ardgowan Bowling club.
Almost 100 members, friends and guests turned out to welcome in the new season at the opening of the club’s tennis and bowling sections.
Before the first bowl was thrown, Ria and Millie Ross, granddaughters of past president Ian Ross raised the new club flag which had been kindly donated by Ian in memory of his late wife Carole Anne.
The first bowl of the season was then delivered by club president Raymond Millan’s sister Katrina walker, while Audrey Galloway was invited to serve the first tennis ball of the season by vice president Jim Clelland.

Club members and guests then took part in a wapenschaw, with afternoon tea also served in the clubhouse.
A club spokesperson said: “President Raymond and everyone else at the club were pleased to see opening day go so well.
“We appreciate all of the members and friends who came along to support the club and are looking forward to a successful year for the club.
“We’re always hoping to recruit members and have various memberships available for both our bowls and tennis sections.”
