A CARING group brewed up more than £1,300 for a charity close to their hearts with a royal tea.
The RNLI Inverkip, Wemyss Bay and Skelmorlie fundraising branch, which has been running for 50 years, marked the coronation weekend in style.
Irene McDonald, secretary and treasurer, wanted to thank everyone for making the event in Wemyss Bay Community Centre such a success.
She said: "We raised £1372.35 for RNLI and are delighted to have made this amount.
"Our committee and volunteers worked very hard to provide the delicious sandwiches and cakes, made the table decorations, and hung the bunting and flags. We are pleased that the event went so well and that everyone enjoyed themselves."
Irene said the get-together was a team effort, with people pitching in to help get the hall ready, lay out the crockery, provide party food and stage entertainment.
She said: "We are grateful to the staff of Wemyss Bay Community Centre for their help.
"This was the first time we have held an event in the centre and we are happy that it went so well, and hope to work there again in the future.
"Inverkip Church supplied the beautiful China crockery, and also lent us extra chairs when we realised the event was a sell out."
The group also want to thank Cafe Blue, who provided musical entertainment throughout the afternoon free of charge.
Irene said: "We hope that others may be have been inspired by the happy occasion and would like to help our fundraising efforts.
"Our RNLI fundraising branch has been in existence for over 50 years and we are a friendly and welcoming group."
