A PORT Glasgow teenager is living the dream as he heads off to coach kids at a USA soccer camp - with a little help from his friends.
Student Kai Lamont, 18, has been recruited to join Sacramento University in California to lead some soccer training.
To send him on his way his neighbours at the Dubbs Road Co-op organised some fundraising.
Delighted Kai, who is the goalkeeper for the Port Glasgow Boys' Club under-20s side, said:"It means such a lot to get help like this from the Co-op.
"The money they raised will help towards my flight.
"I can't thank them enough for everything.
"I am really excited about going over to California, but I am not sure what to expect."
Kai will be helping to run camps for four to 14-year-olds.
"It will be a great experience."
City of College student Kai, who stays in Dubbs Road, is studying for an HND in coaching and developing sports and says his mum Liz and dad Craig are supporting him.
He added: "This trip is something I really wanted to do.
"I love playing football and I love coaching and think oitwill be a great experience for me. I think my mum is going to miss me, she doesn't want me to go!"
To help him on his way the Co-op staff stepped into organise a fundraising raffle and handed over £400.
Store manager Neil McGinley said: "We are so proud to support Kai. He is a regular in the Co-op and so is his mum.
"We like to support our customers."
