HOSPITALITY hopefuls lined up for an opportunity at a new career in a flagship restaurant set to open on Greenock's waterfront.

The much-anticipated Scotts will be opening in the new cruise ship visitor centre next month and is continuing its recruitment drive for staff.

Operators Buzzworks Holdings, who own restaurants in Largs and Troon, held a second open day and said they were impressed with the enthusiasm shown for their new venture in Greenock.

Vivien Bryan, resourcing partner for Buzzworks, said: "We will be opening next month and are recruiting for 70 positions.

"The events have been very well received, I have been recruiting for Buzzworks for the last four years and it is nice to see people who are so interested in our company who are looking for a great opportunity.

"We always always get an interest but we have been really inundated here. It's been great we have a room at the job centre to carry out interviews."

"We are really looking for people who are enthusiastic to be part of the team."

Buzzworks are recruiting for all front of house posts, plus chefs and kitchen staff, team leaders and assistant managers.

Greenock Telegraph:

Vivien said: "For front of house, we are looking for people who are warm and friendly with a nice confident personality.

"We offer customers the whole experience, as soon as they set foot in the restaurant until they leave, including excellent customer service, food and surroundings."

David Klein, 29, a chef, attended the recruitment event and said he was looking for a new challenge.

He said: "I've worked in the Tontine Hotel, at Coast and GoodBrew in Gourock. I heard that Buzzworks is a good company to work for, they look after their staff and offer good benefits and training.

"I am looking for a new environment to work in and to advance my career. You can learn from different head chefs, I'm looking for a learning opportunity."

Lorna Cairns, 59, who worked in Chaplins for 17 years until the pandemic, is also looking for a new opportunity.

She said: "I am looking for a new challenge, something part-time as I look after my six grandchildren. I think the new visitor centre is smashing and it is good that the restaurant is bringing in jobs."

Three school pals, Harry Wylie, Ruiraidh Mackay, and Casey Docherty, all 17, who have just left Notre Dame High, were searching for part-time jobs to fit in with their studies.

Fabian Siwek, 18, who is Polish but has lived in Inverclyde for eight years, said: "I'm looking for some experience in hospitality in general to help me get future employment."

Lauren McGuigan, recruitment marketing manager, says the company can make a good offer to jobhunters with the right skills.

She said: "I joined the company when I was 16 and when I see every single one of them coming in, I think to myself that was me one day.

"The company does take care of its people and care about your health and wellbeing."
