YORKSHIRE Building Society in Greenock is inviting existing and would-be homeowners through its doors to answer questions borrowers might have as a result of the current cost-of-living challenges.

Colleagues at the branch on West Blackhall Street are hosting the free mortgage event to try and help residents who have queries about home loans.

David Nolan, manager of the Greenock Yorkshire Building Society branch, said: “The current cost-of-living challenges are naturally causing people anxiety, so we’re hosting this event to try and help those who either already own, or are looking to buy their own home, to better understand the support that might be available to them.

“A mortgage is perhaps the most expensive monthly outgoing people have and the recent Bank rate rises prompt a lot of questions from our customers, so we know many more people will be thinking the same.

"We hope by listening to people’s concerns we can answer the mortgage questions on their mind and support or signpost to appropriate solutions that will alleviate some of the stress they’re currently feeling.”

The event will take place at the Society’s branch at 6–8 West Blackhall Street, Greenock, PA15 1UE on Thursday June 1 from 2–4.30pm.
