THE Greenock Arts Guild and the Beacon Arts Centre's first 10 years is being marked in the Scottish Parliament.

Labour MSP Paul O’Kane has lodged a Holyrood motion that celebrates the history of the Guild as well its move to the waterfront venue a decade ago.

The motion highlights its 'positive influence on the wider Inverclyde community'.

Mr O’Kane said: “The Beacon Arts Centre is a cultural jewel for Greenock and the wider area of Inverclyde.

“It has put Inverclyde on the map in terms of the brilliant variety of events that it has showcased in the last ten years.

“I wanted to take the opportunity with my motion to thank the Greenock Arts Guild for the fantastic community outreach work done, particularly in the last few years."
